“It was a breathtaking evening in the Bushveld. The last shades of dark orange still lived on the horizon. The Bushveld fire crackled, and the smell of Africa was in the air. Our four-year-old son was basking in the glow of the fire. Soon he lay down to admire the stars that made their appearance in the sky one by one. When it was pitch dark, he asked the farm owner: “Uncle Len, why does Jesus spoil you so much? Just look at all the stars you have on your farm! Jesus must love you very much.”

Barefoot is a book for every household, and it contains numerous short stories.  It describes and colourfully paints situations we can identify with within our daily lives. There is something to learn and appreciate from every account. It even helps to dissolve some deep inner problems we are dealing with in our current lives. Written and compiled by Rosa Duvenhage, this is the first book that she published in Afrikaans and, by popular demand, was translated into English.
